Published on May 16, 2016

Orange County Blues FC took on Arizona United SC this Saturday, May 14, at Anteater Stadium. The Blues headed into the match looking to get back to winning ways after the defeat against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Arizona United were looking to extend their unbeaten run to four. In the end the Blues were not able to get the three points they hoped for but were able to come away with a well-deserved point as both sides played out an enthralling 1-1 draw.

Joe was one of the best players on the field last Saturday created a lot opportunity for the Blues and had the opportunity to scores more than one goal during the whole game.

Joe Performance:

On the first half Joe found himself through on goal, but as the defender got back at him the ball fell to Jack McCracken who got a shot off on goal but his shot was well saved by Carl Woszczynski in the Arizona goal.

The Blues then tested the Arizona woodwork for the fourth time of the night, when Baccielo was played in down the right hand channel and rounded the Arizona keeper but from a tight angle he could only find the post. Just when the Blues thought it was simply not going to be their night they found the equalizer through Baccielo when he was able to turn home Roy Meeus’s corner to the far post as he got above his man to get the Blues back level.

The Blues were not finished there and pressed hard to claim the winner, however Arizona’s man of the match, the woodwork came to their rescue for a fifth and final time when Baccielo found himself with time and space 18 yards from goal but saw his strike crash into the crossbar.

The next OC Blues game will be away when they face Real Monarchs at Rio Tinto Stadium.
